Remember the days when matching tooth shades felt like dissecting a rainbow? That’s one less thing to worry about as OMNICHROMA Flow uses Smart Chromatic Technology, utilizing 260-nanometer spherical fillers that mimic the natural light behavior of teeth.

The result? A composite that adapts from A1 to D4 in shade, blending right in with the patient’s natural tooth, every time.

By combining cutting-edge materials like OMNICHROMA Flow with state-of-the-art techniques such as injection molding, as demonstrated in the clinical cases below, dentists can achieve faster, more precise, and highly esthetic results.

Case 1: Black Triangles with Precision

Imagine walking into a dental practice where artistry goes hand in hand with efficiency.

Dr. Rosenfeld in Westwood, New Jersey, has been restoring beautiful smiles for years and now he’s sharing his secret to working smarter without sacrificing results. His go-to? OMNICHROMAFlow! He is streamlining the restoration of multiple teeth, without the tedious layering that traditional materials often require.

In one of his featured cases published in DentalTown, Dr. Rosenfeld takes on tricky black triangles using OMNICHROMA Flow with a Bioclear Matrix System. These specially shaped matrices are designed to hug the natural contours of anterior teeth, making it easier to sculpt and close gingival gaps with precision. Once the matrix is in place, OMNICHROMA Flow is injected directly into the space using an injection molding technique. Because the matrix holds its shape and creates a tight seal, the material flows exactly where it’s needed, with no overbuilding. After curing, the matrix is removed, and the restoration is shaped and polished smoothly to create a natural aesthetic result.

I determine which product to use based on the color of the dentin. If the dentin is not stained, OMNICHROMA Flow BULK is indicated. Many times, the dentin is stained from a prior amalgam restoration or caries requiring the use of OMNICHROMA BLOCKER Flow. Sometimes I use a combination of both, placing the OMICHROMA BLOCKER Flow over the stained dentin and the OMNICHROMA Flow BULK over the other portion of the preparation. If the dark/stained dentin is not blocked out, the ceramic inlay or onlay will take on the color from the stained portion of the preparation and will not blend in with the tooth.

Case 2:

In a second case, Dr. Brown addresses a common developmental concern: peg lateral incisors. These smaller-than-normal lateral teeth often require a team approach between orthodontists and restorative dentists to fix, and in this case, timing was everything. Rather than waiting until after orthodontic treatment is complete to restore the tooth, Dr. Brown restored the teeth to their normal size and shape by placing a composite build-up before braces, giving the orthodontist a clear visual guide for ideal tooth positioning, using a wax-up and a clear VPS matrix. After minimal prep and isolation, OMNICHROMA Flow was injected through a small access point into the custom matrix. Because the shape and contour were already captured in the matrix, the restoration emerged fully formed with almost no need for manual shaping. After light curing and removing the matrix, only minor polishing was needed just trimming the excess from the injection point and smoothing any edges. The end result was a natural-looking, temporary restoration that not only looked great but also supported the orthodontic plan, with the option to upgrade to a layered technique after whitening in the future. It’s a smart, efficient use of flowable materials that show how products like OMNICHROMA Flow can elevate even “in-between” treatments with minimal effort.
